How to Make a Christmas Wreath

Posted by on Dec 4, 2014 in Uncategorized | 16 comments

My Mom has been watching a lot of Fixer Upper.

And she has fallen in love with Jo-Jo and Chip and the beautiful homes they create.

She has been inspired to make some changes to her own house…and my dad just happens to be very handy…and willing. 🙂

So this year when we drove home for Thanksgiving and we topped their hill and saw their house…

…well I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Their farmhouse was sporting a new metal roof and new cedar shutters {made by my Dad} and a newly painted door {also courtesy of my Dad.}

And my Mom made a request for a new Christmas wreath before I left.

So here is what I came up with.

{I hope Jo-Jo would approve! 🙂 }

How to Make a Christmas Wreath:

Supplies:

{I used fake everything!}

plain green wreath

2 sprigs of blue spruce

3 sprigs of cedar

8 sprigs of snowy spruce

6 snowy pinecones on sticks

6 clip-on birds

hot glue

Plain Christmas Wreath

I started with a super plain greenery wreath.

Then I picked out some sprigs of greenery.

I began placing the greenery around.

I added 3 sprigs of the cedar.

Then 2 sprigs of the blue spruce.

And then 8 sprigs of the snowy spruce.

I left a space open at the bottom of the wreath.

Pinecones on Sticks

Because I had found these snowy pinecones on sticks.

I clipped the sticks to a couple of inches, added hot glue and clustered them in the open space.

red bird

I felt like it needed a bit of red to feel Christmas-y.

So I clipped on 6 of these red birds. {Or are they cardinals?}

And I’m not sure if Joanna would approve…

…but my Mom was thrilled!

Merry Christmas!

  14. I also love Chip and Joanna. I wish HGTV would should more of their programs. If money wasn’t an object, I would love for Joanna to come make over my house. I really liked your wreath tutorial. I spruced up an old plain wreath (like your mom’s)this year but didn’t think about mixing other greens to give it depth and texture. It is already hanging on the front door so I will wait until next year to do your makeover.
