How to Decorate with Silver Platters

Posted by on Oct 12, 2013 in Uncategorized | 9 comments

I married the love of my life in December of 1995.

Being a Southern bride,

the ladies in my life wanted to make sure that I would be able to host a proper party.

And, apparently silver platters were very important to hosting these parties.

So, I was blessed with more than my fair share of them. 🙂

While I do love to host a party,

and while I do love a silver platter,

I rarely use the silver platters for parties.

But, I have found them to be perfect for decorating…

I am thankful that I hung on to all of mine.

But, many have not…

…so, they’re a popular thrift store find!

  1. What did you use on the back of the silver platters to hang them?

    • I used an adhesive disc. If you click on “Make a Gallery Wall” it will lead you to the post where I showed how to hang them!

  2. Oh I love these ideas. I use mine all the time. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty

  3. Great post and ideas for using those silver platters. Love your gallery wall of silver platters, you have several nice big ones.
I pick them up when I see ones I like or can afford. Lately the thrift stores haven’t had many at all. I have several smaller ones that I use to decorate quite often, love the shine and light they bring. Love your idea of making one a chalkboard, love the look.
Our l/r is kinda dark so I like to add colorful things and bright things, mirrors. When I took the summer stuff off the l/r niche shelves I put several of my silver platters, little bowls on the shelves, one shelf silver, one shelf ironstone, did this with all four shelves for now anyway. I had to go digging to find some of the things I’d put away in the spring. Forgot about some of them so it was a nice surprise. Had fun deciding how to use them in different ways. If I can’t think of any I just hop into blog land and I’m fulfilled with plenty of them. Sorry I’ll shut up now. bye

  8. I love this ideas as my silver pieces rarely get used. The fact that they aren’t all polished and shiny makes them even more interesting.
