Heart Shaped Coffee Filter Wreath

Nothing speaks LOVE to me like my sweet hubby making my coffee.

I have been a coffee drinker for about 8 years.

I grew up in a family of coffee drinkers, but somehow never learned to like coffee..yet alone LOVE it?

 I have my friend Becky to thank for that.

Both of our husbands are youth ministers, and have been on a board for the same camp for the past 14 years (ouch – we might be getting too old for this!) We each have 3 children about the same ages, and after several days of living in a dorm room with 3 kiddos, we were needing some time “away.” So our sweet husbands got out of some of their responsibilities long enough to watch the kiddos so we could get some time for ourselves. I didn’t really care where we went, I was just so glad to get away! Becky being a coffee lover knew exactly where she wanted to go – Starbucks. So off we went. I was just going to have a glass of water. Becky asked if I would be open to trying something new…and she ordered me a Carmel Mocha Frappucino. It was all over after that. I found myself in the drive-thru at Starbucks at least once a week, and from there I turned to the “real” stuff. And now I can’t start my morning without it…with a little Peppermint Mocha of course!

Making a coffee filter wreath

Supplies:

Heart Shaped Styrofoam Wreath

Coffee Filters (about 100)

Hot Glue

Find the center of the filter.

Fold in half and then fold back in half.

{Don’t make sharp folds, you want a ruffly look.}

Starting from the center, working your way out, hot glue the center of the filter to the form.

Continue with one layer around the entire wreath.

I found it worked best to keep the filters all going in the same direction.

Add a second layer to the side.

And a third layer to the middle.

Hot glue a piece of twine to the back to hang.

{And you can also see how I glued the inside layer onto the form.}

Valentine Wreath

My wreath found a home in our family room.

Perfect.

Reminding me of 2 of my favorite things ever ~ LOVE and COFFEE!

Life to the full!

  1. I love this wreath. If I can find a heart, I can picture this done in white coffee filters trimmed with red hearts. I live in a very rural community, foothills of Blue Ridge Mts, so not a lot of places to purchase different shaped wreaths. I have said this before, but thank you for sharing so many wonderful projects. Look forward to each one.

  2. Gorgeous! I’ve been wanting to make a coffee filter wreath for some time now…hearts are a favorite of mine, not just at Valentines, so I’m absolutely going to make this :) Thanks so much for sharing!
    p.s. btw, i also love coffee, & my hubs has been a YP for over 20 yrs!

  6. I’ve wanted to make a coffee filter wreath for long time after seeing so many fabulous ones on blog land. You have convinced me it’s possible and not that hard. Your wreath looks so pretty and fluffy, love the darker filters. Seeing how back looked was quite helpful also. You are a wreath Queen Melissa. Everything you do is always top notch.
    I guess I should be embarrassed as I’ve never had Starbucks coffee of any kind. Didn’t drink coffee til I married my 2nd. hubs at 28. He taught me to eat good veggies too so guess he’s not all bad huh? lol. Our daughter loves her liquid flavored creamers, I’ll have to try one of those sometime.
    I have to drink decaf so don’t know if they have flavored stuff for decaffers at Starbucks. I’m pinning your awesome wreath. Happy days

  7. Hi, I enjoy reading your blog. Thanks for sharing fabulous ideas! I REALLY like the heart shaped wreath you shared at Tater Tots and Jello!! Do you mind sharing where you bought the heart wreath form! Seems I remember reading that you live in Murfreesboro; I live in Franklin. I checked Hobby Lobby but they didn’t have one. I also really like your coffee filter wreath – so clever! Thanks again for sharing your ideas.

    • I got both of the wreath forms at Hobby Lobby. Seems like I might have seen one at JoAnnes as well? Good luck finding one!

  8. How pretty! Your wreath looks beautiful, love the heart shape! :)

  9. Melissa, your wreath is so pretty and so festive! I love this idea! I have to copy this! Thanks for sharing a great tutorial! I’m off to pin it.
