It is feeling like fall here in Murfreesboro, TN!
We had rain for most of the day, so once again I did not get to work on my front porch.
Tomorrow should be the day.
The weather should be cool and crisp.
The perfect fall decorating weather!
I am looking forward to it!
So, today I worked on the inside a little more.
Here is some more of my fall decor.
I feel like a broken record. . .
My fall decorating is pretty much the same theme for every room.
Brass finds.
Natural finds.
Thrifty finds.
On with the pictures!
I try to simplify. . .
Really, I do. . .
I just can’t seem to get the hang of it!
I have decided that I really like layers.
Layers upon layers.
I found this little plaque at Goodwill.
I loved the size and the little brass ring on top.
It obviously needed a little love.
I showed it the love with Annie Sloan Old White, dark wax and chalkboard paint.
It is the perfect size to hang from my lampshade.
More brass treasures from yard sales and Goodwill!
Brass urns – Goodwill.
I plan on keeping most of the “base” of these decorations for Christmas.
I will just be removing the pumpkins and berries and adding Christmas touches.
So there you have some of my family room.
For those who have been following my “skunk” situation, it is actually getting some better.
My husband read that the best thing for getting rid of the smell is exposing it to oxygen.
Well, that is all that we have done since we have had so much rain, and it seems to be much better.
Or, we are just used to the smell by now.
Maybe I should have a friend come over and see if they still think our house stinks?
Life to the full,
Melissa

Hi Melissa: What a gorgeous family room you’ve put together–I love all the rich and warm bronze and gold touches that you’ve included throughout, and how clever to leave the base in place for Christmas decor–smart!
Your family room looks very cozy and comfy. I have that same lamp, just not the wicker shade, doggone it. It’s hard not to layer when you love your things. I have that same problem and have to make myself take away some things to see how I like it, better or not? Today I took things off walls and tables to get ready to change out for seasons.
The plaque that you redid is great, I’ll have to keep an eye for one or ask hubs to make one.
Boy was it ever dusty in our l/r. I could clean and dust and not even 5 minutes later it’s back, hate that. Our driveway is dirt/gravel and our neighbors have to drive thru to get to their place behind us.
I’d love to take doors off upper cupboards but I’d have alot more work to do.
I love your olive jar you showed yesterday. They used to have one at Pier 1 but by time I could buy it there weren’t any left.
Well, don’t ask the friend who thought it smelled like coffee, Melissa. She may think it smells like Chai Tea now or something. : ) Love your Fall decorations in this room. You do what I do ~ add it in to what you’ve already got out. I like doing that better than having to take everything down, find some place to put it all and then just put out accessories for the season. The only time I don’t mind doing it is for Christmas. Although, I usually feel differently when it is time to put Christmas away! Your base will look great for Christmas decorating. I can just see ornaments sitting in and pretty beads hanging over your brass pieces.
Love the little orange pumpkin, Melissa!

you make brass look so sophisticated and chic instead of outdated. Love all the frames
This room is beautiful and you’ve pulled off layering really well. I’m sure no on is every bored looking around at all your touches! ~ Maureen
Oh forget simple, your room is beautiful. It’s like a treasure trove and I love it!. Hope the rain lets up soon so I can see your porch.
I love your gallery wall. The brass accessories look great with the gold frames. The chalkboard looks so cute on the shade. You don’t have to be a minimalist if you don’t want to.
Layer away! I’m all for it, myself. You have a lovely home, Melissa and you’ve decorated it beautifully. Thanks for sharing all of your sweet Fall touches!
Hi! Visiting from SNS…you layers are lovely. You should definitely keep them if you love them. You put the look together with great style and taste. Your Fall decor is very warm.

This is gorgeous. Love the gold color. I am going to feature this on The cSI Project FB page next week. Too pretty not share and the challenge is the color gold.
Come on over and link up too!!!
Have a great week!
So! So! Beautiful. Anything with brass captures my heart – I pick up pieces as I find them at GW too, thanks for sharing.
Looks beautiful! I love the colors.
Looks great and it’s smart to use the same color groups throughout. It’s so much easier to move accessories around. Thanks for sharing at Potpourri Friday!
You inspire me! I really, really need to try ASCP! And I love your collected look!
Great job! Just saw the CSI Project give you a shout out on Twitter
