Chalk Painted Coffee Table

Posted by on Apr 30, 2013 in chalk paint, painted furniture | 31 comments

All day long I have painted. . .

And, thought about Andy Griffith episodes.

I have chuckled to myself thinking about Barney writing tickets for jaywalking.

Smiled at Andy and Barney eating Aunt Bea’s terrible pickles.

Enjoyed thoughts of a simple life in Mayberry.

And, wondered why in the world I am thinking about Andy Griffith?

And, then it occurred to me.

The name of the paint I am using is “Otis.”

Funny how our minds work.

Anybody got some moonshine?!

Now for the HOW-TO’S:

Otis is a color available at Southern Honey in Nashville.

The top is a mix of Graphite (Annie Sloan), Paris Grey (Annie Sloan) and Black (Valspar).

I waxed the top with dark wax and the bottom with clear.

Life to the full!

  3. Yes, we actually do have moonshine. Our son makes Apple Pie moonshine that tastes like spiced tea….but with a kick! It even has a cinnamon stick in the Mason jar along with the ‘shine’. I love the combination of colors you used on the table. What do you think about the Southern Honey paint? My last several painting sessions have been with Maison Blanc magnolia (white).

Sometimes I wish I could afford Annie Sloan chalk paint (or one of other commercial chalk paints) but have a good time mixing up my concoctions I can afford. I like challenges. Maybe someday.

  26. I would really love to make a blog but.. I’m not sure what type of blogs get the most traffic? What kind of blogs do you surf? I mostly surf photo blogs and fashion blogs. Just getting a poll here thanks!.

  27. Your table looks great… But I was taken with your words of pickles (Aunt Bea’s must have been horrendous but Andy and Barney had to learn to love ’em), of Gomer chasing a U-turning Barney yelling “Citizens arrest, citizens arrest!”, and enjoying your thoughts of simpler times when things were done by hand as a craft and not as a computer generated cookie cutters… Paul Bunyan must have thought the same… All the while looking at the beautiful work you did on your table… Fantastic!
