My Favorites of 2013

Posted by on Dec 30, 2013 in Uncategorized | 9 comments

 Our Christmas break started with an amazing…fun-filled…roller-coaster riding…show watching…character meeting…road trip to Disney World with some of our dearest friends on the planet! :)

Followed by a round of some unknown lingering virus…

…which led to us all watching entirely too much television.

And since we only have basic cable, we rely on Netflix for most of our shows.

I have practically memorized every episode of Cake Boss

…and, The Next Great Baker

…so, I encouraged the girls to look around and see what else they could find.

That little search led to the discovery of 17 Kids and Counting.

We have finished the first 2 seasons, and my girls can now list all of the Duggar children …by namein order.

{I’m so proud.}

 There are now 19 Duggar children, so I was tempted to list my favorite 19 projects of 2013…

…but, I decided that might be too many. :)

So, here are my 10 favorites…

Elf is playing on our television.

The girls are telling Jovie {our elf on the shelf} what they want for Christmas…

…we’re wrapping gifts…

…a fire is blazing in our fireplace…

…the water is warming for our hot chocolate…

…and we even have peppermint marshmallows to sprinkle on the top!

Monogram Gift Tags

I grew up in the era of not being able to choose whatever you wanted to watch on TV.

There was no Netflix or On Demand…

…it was whatever the networks decided to play.

I’d always come home from school…grab a snack…and watch some TV.

If I was lucky, it was Leave It To Beaver, or The Brady Bunch, or The Beverly Hillbillies.

There were stretches of time that Laverne and Shirley was on.

Not my favorite show, but entertaining enough that I’d still sit and eat my snack and watch the entire episode.

{And, have a few laughs with Lenny and Squiggy.}

I remember well the iconic “L” that was stitched to every shirt Laverne wore.

So, the whole time I was making these monograms, I couldn’t help but hum the theme song. :)

“One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Sclemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated.
We’re gonna do it!”

Magnolia Leaf Christmas Wreath

Magnolia Leaf Christmas Wreath

Is your front door still needing a little Christmas cheer?

All you need is 15 minutes, 4 supplies, and a friend with a magnolia tree.

If you don’t have a friend with a magnolia tree…I suggest you bake a fudge pie…drive around until you find a magnolia…knock on their front door with the pie in hand…and ask for a few leaves in return. :)

Luckily, I happen to have a friend who gladly shares her leaves with me!

{Thanks, Becky! :)}

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am waking up this morning overwhelmed with blessing.

My children sleep warm and well in their beds.

My husband will be up shortly, ready to help me in any way that he can.

My house is about to be full of family and friends that we have chosen to be a part of our family.

But, I just couldn’t let the day go by without telling you how thankful I am for YOU!

So thankful that you read {or at least look at the pictures :)}

So thankful for every comment that you leave.

So thankful for the encouragement that you are.

And, when I talk about how I would love for you to be able to really come to my house for a visit.

I really mean it!

I wish I could meet everyone of you and hear all about your lives and families.

And, my prayer for you this morning is that each one of you has a day full of blessing!

A day that is totally…

…Life to the full!
