DIY Wood and Burlap Clip Frame

**I wrote this post as part of a paid campaign with Plaid Crafts, Michaels and Blueprint Social. The opinions in this post are my own.**

Happy New Year!

Are you a resolution maker?  I’m not.

My husband makes a food resolution EVERY year and STICKS with it every year. His resolution this year is that he cannot have a dessert if he hasn’t walked 2 miles that day. Ugh. And he will stick with it 100%. Sickening.

I did go with his resolution once. ONCE. No french fries for the year. And I must say that I stuck with it. And I was so proud of myself. Those were in the days of spending a lot of time at Chick-fil-A with 3 small girls and a lot of opportunities to eat a lot of fries.

The next year he was going to give up donuts. I decided that I didn’t want to join him any more. :)

That is the year that I decided that I just wanted to live by a certain “thought” for the year. {So much harder to track, and you don’t feel like such a failure if you go a day or 2 without living under the new motto.}

This year’s motto is simple:

FIND THE GOOD.

I want to find the good in each day and each situation. And I want to encourage my girls to do the same.

So this Spring Wood Surface was just what I needed to remind my family to find the good!

Parade of Homes Inspiration

Being a blogger has it’s perks.

Take last week for instance.

I was invited to attend the King’s Chapel Parade of Homes in Arrington, TN.

And let me just tell you that it knocked my socks off!

Hello Jello.

The inspiration and ideas were mind boggling.

And I met so many new friends and I laughed and I drooled and I took more pictures than I physically thought was possible in a 2 hour stretch…and I think I’m going to have to take my husband back. :)

Because I saw things like this incredible barn wood ceiling…

How to Make a Christmas Wreath

How to Make a Christmas Wreath

My Mom has been watching a lot of Fixer Upper.

And she has fallen in love with Jo-Jo and Chip and the beautiful homes they create.

She has been inspired to make some changes to her own house…and my dad just happens to be very handy…and willing. :)

So this year when we drove home for Thanksgiving and we topped their hill and saw their house…

…well I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Their farmhouse was sporting a new metal roof and new cedar shutters {made by my Dad} and a newly painted door {also courtesy of my Dad.}

And my Mom made a request for a new Christmas wreath before I left.

So here is what I came up with.

{I hope Jo-Jo would approve! :) }

Christmas Card Ideas

Christmas Card Ideas

This post is brought to you by Minted but all opinions are totally mine! You can read my full disclosure here.

I hope you had the Happiest Thanksgiving ever!

My mama has been sick for the past year. It literally all started 2 days before Thanksgiving last year. Two surgeries, 3 hospital stays, my dad learning how to handle more nursing duties than I ever thought he was capable of and many prayers…and she is well! {And just in case you wonder why, just let me say that you never want perforated diverticulitis with abscess.}

So this year we had an even greater reason to be thankful…my mama was well and cooked up one of the best Thanksgiving feasts you have ever eaten!

But with the Thanksgiving season over…it’s time for Christmas!

Trees are going up in our house this weekend…parties are being planned…and I am determined to have an enjoyable and peaceful December.

First on the list is Christmas cards!

So grab your camera and get those pictures made today {or use a great one that you already have in your camera} because you will not want to miss the Cyber Monday specials at Minted.

I’m told that it will be their biggest promotion of the year!

And the cards they have are totally ADORABLE…seriously adorable.

Be Brave

Be Brave

So the other day I shared about my fake picnic and how that changed everything.

And since that post I’ve had more text messages and FB messages and comments that have been a blessing to my soul.

And I was reminded of why I joined the wonderful world of blogland to begin with.

I like you people. Like really like y’all. And I don’t want to leave y’all.

But I also don’t want to waste your time with fake posts about empty crafts and projects.

{Although I do have some fun projects that I’m planning!}

I want to share my real life with you and my real projects with you.

Just as you have inspired me…I want to inspire you. {Not breed discontentment!}

So this morning as I sit here on this balcony overlooking the ocean…I realize I have something I want to share.

I LOVE stories of brave people. I think I love reading them so much because I’m not a brave person.

I have no desires to jump out of an airplane or bungee off a cliff or ride Space Mountain. :)

And if you’re thinking about doing one of these things…I probably have a story of a friend of a friend who knows someone who tried that very thing and it didn’t end well for them. My brain tends to hold on to these sorts of stories. {I’m armed and ready for when my children come to me and want to do something hair-brained.}

Although those are really not the kind of brave things that I’m thinking about this morning.

lets all be brave
