Parade of Homes Inspiration

Being a blogger has it’s perks.

Take last week for instance.

I was invited to attend the King’s Chapel Parade of Homes in Arrington, TN.

And let me just tell you that it knocked my socks off!

Hello Jello.

The inspiration and ideas were mind boggling.

And I met so many new friends and I laughed and I drooled and I took more pictures than I physically thought was possible in a 2 hour stretch…and I think I’m going to have to take my husband back. :)

Because I saw things like this incredible barn wood ceiling…

How to Make a Christmas Wreath

My Mom has been watching a lot of Fixer Upper.

And she has fallen in love with Jo-Jo and Chip and the beautiful homes they create.

She has been inspired to make some changes to her own house…and my dad just happens to be very handy…and willing. :)

So this year when we drove home for Thanksgiving and we topped their hill and saw their house…

…well I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Their farmhouse was sporting a new metal roof and new cedar shutters {made by my Dad} and a newly painted door {also courtesy of my Dad.}

And my Mom made a request for a new Christmas wreath before I left.

So here is what I came up with.

{I hope Jo-Jo would approve! :) }

Christmas Card Ideas

Christmas Card Ideas

This post is brought to you by Minted but all opinions are totally mine! You can read my full disclosure here.

I hope you had the Happiest Thanksgiving ever!

My mama has been sick for the past year. It literally all started 2 days before Thanksgiving last year. Two surgeries, 3 hospital stays, my dad learning how to handle more nursing duties than I ever thought he was capable of and many prayers…and she is well! {And just in case you wonder why, just let me say that you never want perforated diverticulitis with abscess.}

So this year we had an even greater reason to be thankful…my mama was well and cooked up one of the best Thanksgiving feasts you have ever eaten!

But with the Thanksgiving season over…it’s time for Christmas!

Trees are going up in our house this weekend…parties are being planned…and I am determined to have an enjoyable and peaceful December.

First on the list is Christmas cards!

So grab your camera and get those pictures made today {or use a great one that you already have in your camera} because you will not want to miss the Cyber Monday specials at Minted.

I’m told that it will be their biggest promotion of the year!

And the cards they have are totally ADORABLE…seriously adorable.

Be Brave

Be Brave

So the other day I shared about my fake picnic and how that changed everything.

And since that post I’ve had more text messages and FB messages and comments that have been a blessing to my soul.

And I was reminded of why I joined the wonderful world of blogland to begin with.

I like you people. Like really like y’all. And I don’t want to leave y’all.

But I also don’t want to waste your time with fake posts about empty crafts and projects.

{Although I do have some fun projects that I’m planning!}

I want to share my real life with you and my real projects with you.

Just as you have inspired me…I want to inspire you. {Not breed discontentment!}

So this morning as I sit here on this balcony overlooking the ocean…I realize I have something I want to share.

I LOVE stories of brave people. I think I love reading them so much because I’m not a brave person.

I have no desires to jump out of an airplane or bungee off a cliff or ride Space Mountain. :)

And if you’re thinking about doing one of these things…I probably have a story of a friend of a friend who knows someone who tried that very thing and it didn’t end well for them. My brain tends to hold on to these sorts of stories. {I’m armed and ready for when my children come to me and want to do something hair-brained.}

Although those are really not the kind of brave things that I’m thinking about this morning.

lets all be brave

I know…it might be too early for some of you…{don’t judge}…but I CAN’T WAIT! :)

The girls have been back in school for a few weeks and we are ready to move on to the next season…

…the season of cool weather, thoughts of family and thankfulness, warm fires and a general feeling of coziness!

I’ve collected so many ideas on my Fall Pinterest board that it’s crazy!

I just can’t seem to get enough of wheat, acorns, gourds, pumpkins and such…

Enjoy these ideas!
