Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a thrift store lover.

I go daily if I can.

Once you find a few treasures like I have found, you too would be hooked.

Take these mirrors for instance.

Christmas Family Room

Posted by on Dec 12, 2012 in brass, burlap, Christmas, family room, thrift store, yard sale | 8 comments

I LOVE a house all decorated for Christmas.  I turn the lights on the Christmas tree and in the garland on the stairs first thing in the morning.  There is something so peaceful about the lights glowing in the dark house.  I always have my coffee before anyone else in the house gets up.  It is such a great way to start the day!

I keep the dining room and front of the foyer pretty white, but then I use a richer color scheme for the family room.  The richer colors seem so much more cozy for this room.  This is the room where we spend the most time.  We love to build a fire on cold nights!

Here is a little of our family room.

Christmas Dining Room Hutch

In the morning, a VERY exciting thing is going to be happening!  Do you remember the nursery that I decorated a few posts back?  Well, precious baby Jack will arrive in the morning at about 8:00 am.  Gotta love a C-section!  It is not my baby, but my best friend’s.  And, guess who is going to be the photographer of all of his precious first hours?  ME!!!  So, he is going to be the best kind of baby for me.  I will get to hug him and squeeze him and keep him and then take him home for him to keep his momma up all night while I snooze away!

I shared some of my dining room yesterday, and today I will share some more.

How to Make a “Vintage” Sign using Picmonkey

I recently decorated a baby nursery for precious baby Jack who is due to arrive on December the 11th.  The family is Alabama fans, so I wanted to include a little houndstooth and a few elephants.  I decided to create a gallery wall with these ideas in mind.

I had pinned a tutorial about how to make vintage signs from diddle dumpling.  I must say that it was very helpful, but I did change a couple of things.

Nightstand with Painted Stripes

My heart goes out to all of those involved in the hurricane.  I feel terrible that I complained about the cold weather here today.  I should be ashamed!

I spent a lot of the day painting.  Once again, I have several projects going at one time.  I feel certain that I have some form of crafter’s ADD.  I can’t seem to finish one project before I am starting another one.

Luckily, I did get one thing finished today.   This precious little nightstand.

I have 3 girls, so I have never had the privilege of decorating a little boy’s room.  So, as I painted this piece (and the 2 twin beds that I hope to show you tomorrow), I have been imagining what this room would look like.

Chalk Painted Mirrors

Do you ever have one of those days. . .

you work crazy hard all day,

never taking a break,

yet, at the end of the day. . .

You have nothing to show for it?!

That has been my day today.

I have worked on projects non-stop all day long!

My deck is proof!

It is a total wreck.

Paint brushes, paint cans, cans of wax, sandpaper and old towels are scattered everywhere.

I have 6 projects going as I write.

I managed to wrap one of them up, because I just needed to finish something.
