5 Ideas for Creating Outdoor Retreats

I live in a house right in the middle of the suburbs.

{Which happens to be perfect for my family right now.}

But. . .

I long to live in an old farmhouse,

on a bit of land,

in the middle of the country,

where you can’t see your nearest neighbor for miles. . .

Until then, I try to create inviting outdoor areas right here in the suburbs.

Here are 5 ideas for creating your own outdoor retreats.

I AM winning my war against the mosquito.

You probably would not be able to tell by the 2 giant welts on my arm.

But, the fact that I have been spending a LOT of time outside,

and I only have 2 bites,

It probably has something to do with the amount of sweets I consume. . .

“Sugar” is one of my favorite food groups.

I like low maintenance.

I also like beautiful.

It seems that the two have a hard time co-existing. . .

Astro-turf.

Double knit polyester.

Vinyl tablecloths.

You get the drift. . .

But, on that rare occasion,

these two worlds collide.

Low maintenance.

And, beautiful.

One example is my potted boxwoods.

Another is,

my friend,

the succulent.
