A couple of weeks ago it was time to pack up my family of 5 to go to camp for 11 days.
And the day before we were to leave…I decided it would be the perfect day to paint my kitchen.
So instead of washing and folding…I was searching for the perfect neutral kitchen paint colors!
The perfect neutral with just a hint of gray and cream that would be totally perfect with ironstone.
Because what else needed to be done?!
{I really wonder about myself sometimes?}
I just imagined how wonderful it would be to walk into a newly painted kitchen when we got back from camp.
How fresh everything would look…
I come from a family that is all about traditions.
Or maybe it’s that my parents didn’t like a lot of change.
My parents lived in the same house for 26 years.
We moved in when I was 1 and they moved out when I was 27…during those years my mom redecorated and painted and rearranged…but one piece of furniture always stayed the same…
…the kitchen table.
I love that every family meal that we ate in that house was at that very table.
My husband’s family is much the same way…my husband grew up eating every meal at the same table…which now resides in our dining room! 🙂
So when David and I bought our family kitchen table…I knew that I wanted to use it forever.
But the shiny cherry was beginning to bother me…so I decided to try my hand at refinishing.
And I LOVE the results!
Here is how to refinish a kitchen table:
If you were my neighbor……and you needed ketchup (catsup)…you would be in luck.
Seems that I have 3 full bottles.
Why would I have 3 full bottles, you ask?
Because until last week my pantry was a TOTAL DISASTER!
But my friends in blog world totally inspired me…
…and I have a very handy dad 🙂
So here is my DIY Pantry Organization!
Hey!
I’m so glad you are here!
Welcome to my kitchen.
I wish I could fix you a glass of sweet tea
so you could sit here while I shared a little bit about my kitchen with you. . .
I am not a musical person.
I did not come from a musical family.
I will never forget the first time my family sang Happy Birthday to my new sister-in-law.
She played the piano.
She did come from a musical family.
And, there she stood. . .
wide-eyed. . .
stunned. . .
not sure whether to laugh or to run,
as me, my mom, dad and brother did our best to croak the song out.
Luckily, she had already married my brother,
so there was no turning back!
I think shopping for a rug is the equivalent to
shopping for blue jeans. . .
You need the item,
you just can’t seem to find one that will do?
I have been rug shopping for a year.
Not straight.
On and off.
Why couldn’t I find a rug (or jeans)?
1. I am cheap.
2. I measured and remeasured trying to find the perfect fit.
3. I wanted something basic, yet with personality.
4. Did I mention that I am cheap?
