Picnic Basket for Craft Storage

Posted by on Aug 27, 2012 in crafts, Daisy's room, fabric flower, organization, yard sale | 15 comments

One of the requests Daisy had for her new room, was a great place to craft.

She is a lot like her mother. . .

Storage was a big issue.  We wanted cute, stylish storage.

So far we have used pickle jars and an old travel suitcase.

Here is the next addition to the “craft storage.”

Well, today is the first full day of school for my girls.

So, this post did not get written and posted last night.

Too much going on around here to get ready for the big day!

If you have girls. . .

And, they have lockers. . .

Then, you know that locker decorations are all the rage!

Wallpaper, chandeliers, dry erase boards, etc. . .

My girls wanted to add to their decorations this year.

So, yesterday we crafted!

And, here are our results:

Another Pillow! Can My House Really Hold Another Pillow?

Posted by on May 30, 2012 in burlap, burlap flowers, fabric flower, pillows, Uncategorized | 1 comment

I am working on a new chair for my den.  We recently did a little work on our den. . . hardwood floors, new paint, smoothed ceiling (yes, we still had the popcorn!)

I kept most of my stuff, just rearranged a little.

Actually, I am trying to moving to a more “neutral” color scheme.  I only want small doses of color.  But, I am torn at the same time.  I really like color.  Yet, I love the serenity of all neutral.  I am trying to find the right balance.  I was talking to a lady at a yard sale the other day (the yard sale where I found my kitchen scale!)  She was saying that she was doing the same thing.  Trying to move to all neutral, yet finding it hard to get rid of all of the color.  I will find the right balance for us!  (A pretty small concern!)

Back to the chair. . . it is painted and just needs to have the cushion covered.  I am hoping to get to that after church camp.

I have made the pillow for it though!

My girls have bags for everything!!!  Backpacks, tote bags, wristlets. . . the list goes on and on!  But, one bag that they really like is their “sport” bag.  A simple drawstring backpack.  We have another birthday party coming up, so I thought this would be a good time to try my hand at this style bag.

Here is what I came up with:

Ruffle Tote Bag

I had intended to get a backyard project completed for my children this weekend, but it was TOO cold!!!  We endured 2 soccer games on Saturday in the cold, misty, windy weather!  No one wanted to be outside after that!

So, on to plan B.  (I am so glad that I had a plan B!)

My daughter, Anna Belle had a birthday party to go to on Friday.  I decided to make part of the gift.  This is such a sweet little friend, a gift card just didn’t seem right!

I have seen these all over the blog-world, but I did not know where I could find a tutorial, so I just made my own.

Here is the final project:

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked me to make a flower for her hair for prom.  I was honored to play a small role in her big night out!  I showed how I made the flower here.  I did add one more layer to the flower to make it a little bigger.

And. . . here are the beautiful pictures!  She looks stunning!!!
