I had a little time at the computer this weekend and stumbled upon the cutest idea for an empty frame.
I love all of the inspiration that can be had in blog world.
Laurel over at Chipping with Charm (who has a precious blog) inspired me!
She created a beautiful twine wrapped frame.
You should check hers out!
I have been looking for some great “empty frame” projects.
I have more than my fair share of them, and my collection continues to grow.
Here is my version.
My husband travels on occasion which takes me to the Nashville airport. I have noticed a store on the way called Southern Thrift. It was always either too early or too late to stop by. Finally, his pick up time was perfect. Saturday morning at 10:00. That put our entire family driving by the store at 10:30 a.m. Prime shopping hours!
I convinced everyone that we should stop and check it out. Some of their things were a bit pricey, but I did manage to find a few treasures (as did most everyone else in my family!)
Here is one of the finished products from that stop.
I love the look of simplicity in decorating.
I just have a hard time living with it!
I tend to want to add more – more layers, greater depth, more color.
I love the idea of living in an all white house. Everything neutral. . . and soothing. . . and beautiful. . . and calm. (My beach house is going to be just that – I can dream can’t I?)
But, at the end of the day, I do not have the discipline to not stop adding more!
So, as is my nature, I added another layer to an existing wall in my kitchen. I do like it better. I am just a girl who needs layers!
I am working on a new chair for my den. We recently did a little work on our den. . . hardwood floors, new paint, smoothed ceiling (yes, we still had the popcorn!)
I kept most of my stuff, just rearranged a little.
Actually, I am trying to moving to a more “neutral” color scheme. I only want small doses of color. But, I am torn at the same time. I really like color. Yet, I love the serenity of all neutral. I am trying to find the right balance. I was talking to a lady at a yard sale the other day (the yard sale where I found my kitchen scale!) She was saying that she was doing the same thing. Trying to move to all neutral, yet finding it hard to get rid of all of the color. I will find the right balance for us! (A pretty small concern!)
Back to the chair. . . it is painted and just needs to have the cushion covered. I am hoping to get to that after church camp.
I have made the pillow for it though!
My family is leaving for church camp today! We are super excited!
We will come home exhausted, dirty and full of fantastic memories!
But, I will not be around to read and answer your sweet comments! And, I will not be around to make sure that these posts actually post. I am scheduling them, but I am so new to this!? So, I hope that this is actually posting and you are actually getting to read it!
On to this post!
Do you ever go to a yard sale and think. . . I have come to the home of a kindred spirit.
You realize that their “stuff” looks like your “stuff.”
That is what happened this weekend!
I was at the same neighborhood yard sale where I found the mirror that I posted about yesterday. You can read about it here.
I knew that I would find a treasure at this house. I had no idea that it would be this AMAZING!
If you have been around “blog-world” for long, then you have to be familiar with Miss Mustard Seed. She is one of my favorite bloggers and has a style that I just LOVE! And, she has made every blogger in the world want an old kitchen scale!
So, yes that is what I found. . . one fantastic old kitchen scale!!!
I am still hard at work on the inside of my playhouse. Actually, my new workspace for Daisy Mae Belle!
I found several great yard sale finds this weekend. I will share those soon!
I am working on a chair that I hope to share tomorrow.
And, this is the pillow that I made for it. I put one of my favorite quotes on it. The quote is from Satchel Paige, and it says; “Sometimes I sits and thinks and sometimes I just sits.”
I hope my new chair will become just that place for me. A place where I can sits and thinks or sometimes I will just sits. (With a large fruit tea and a great magazine, planning my family’s next beach vacation. . . )
