Basket of Sunflowers

Posted by on May 12, 2014 in crafts, Uncategorized, wreaths | 8 comments

One day I’m going to own an old pick-up truck.

I’m still trying to decide the color…

…but I have time to think.

It’s waiting its turn in line behind braces for 3 mouths of teeth…family beach trips…college tuitions…

…you get the idea. :)

And one day I’m going to plant a field of sunflowers and cut them by the buckets full and load them into my pick-up truck and take them down to my town square and sell them at the farmer’s market.

I think I’ll wear a straw hat with a red and white gingham bow…

…and help people fill their own basket of sunflowers for their front doors! :)

Sunflower Door Arrangement

I couldn’t help daydream a bit as I put this arrangement together.

Supplies:

basket

2 bushes of sunflowers

{I got mine at Michael’s}

floral foam

wire snips

knife for cutting foam

floral pins

green moss

Sunflower Door Arrangement

Fill the basket with floral foam.

Using floral pins add the moss to the edges of the foam.

Sunflower Door Arrangement

Cut all of the sunflowers off of the bush.

Bend the head of the flower over so that you can see it when you look at the basket.

Sunflower Door Arrangement

Layer all of the sunflowers into the basket.

And enjoy your perfectly summer door basket!

And until I have that pick-up filled with sunflowers…

…I will be filled to overflowing with gratitude for the blessing of caring for my 3 girls!

{That pick up truck can wait. :) }

Life to the full!

  1. That looks so pretty Melissa! I love sunflowers and bought a bunch this past weekend at the grocery store for my kitchen table.

  2. Until I read they were faux flowers I thought they were real, so pretty. How can anybody not be happy looking at sunflowers. So cheerful with their pretty faces. Your sunflower basket is gorgeous hanging on front door. You do such gorgeous flower arrangements for your door. Lucky door.
I used to have lots of faux flowers but got rid of them darn it. The hydrangeas were getting tired looking. Will have to see when HL or Michaels has sunflowers on sale again. I have an old white granite ware pot they’d look really pretty in sitting on my trestle table in l/r.
Got the l/r painted, finished today. So many things I want to do in this place but at least got a start.
How was your Mother’s day? Did you get to be with your Mom yesterday?
    Have great week

  5. I love sunflowers and your basket is so pretty! I dream of driving across the country and seeing fields and fields of sunflowers…but that’s waiting for similar reason. ;)

  6. Well now doesn’t that look just super cute, the yellow is just so sunshiney-happy!

  7. Who couldn’t love a sunflower! Cute basket and the flowers look so real. I have planted a small sunflower patch in my yard for the past 3 years and it makes me so happy to see them pop up and watch their smiling faces appear. They are already planted for this year and are about 6″ so far. I’ll have flowers by July! The truck idea and the farmer’s market sounds so fun. Have a great day and I’m so glad I found your blog.

  8. May all your dreams come true!

I love the look of the sunflowers in a basket…so cheerful.
