As I write this post, I am frantically trying to get my family packed for a 2 week trip!
We are going to be spending a few days in New York City and then spend the week at a camp in the Catskill Mountains with children from the Bronx.
This will be our third year to go. . . we LOVE it!
My goal was to have the blog posts all ready and scheduled. . .
My reality is that I did not get everything done that I had intended.
I am not sure what my internet access will be like when we are at the camp?
I obviously will have plenty of access while in NYC!
I am hoping to find plenty of creative inspiration in the window displays!
And, I plan on sharing!
Now, on to this post!
You are not going to believe what I found at a yard sale 2 weekends ago?!
That, my friends, is 2 sets of china!
I paid $10 for one and $20 for the other!
I came home a checked the prices on the replacements website. . .
And, it is worth over $1,000!
The only reason that I have this china is because I was yard sale-ing with a good friend, Cindy Patton.
We were driving around looking for signs when we saw the hot pink sign.
We turned down the road and drove for what seemed miles.
I was ready to turn around and try for something closer!
Cindy said, “Just one more street!”
I followed her encouragement and sure enough, we found the yard sale.
It did not look promising when we drove up.
I was sure that we just should have turned around like I had wanted to do!
But, then I saw all of the dishes stacked on the tables.
As I walked closer, I could tell that they were nice dishes.
Then, I asked the price, assuming it would be more than I would want to spend.
Then, she said $20!
I could not load those dishes up fast enough!
I ended up with both sets and here they are!
It belonged to her grandmother?!
She was selling her grandmothers china?!
I felt so bad, but at least it is going to a home where it will be loved!
I did not register for china when I got married (only Christmas china.)
I did not think that I would ever use it.
But, at this stage in life, I am going to LOVE using my china!
The great thing is. . . I would have picked this china!
I love both sets!!!
I even have serving pieces!
I couldn’t resist adding a few hydrangeas to the pictures!
Thanks Cindy!
Looks like I will be needing to have you and your family over for a formal dinner to celebrate!
Life to the full to you!

God is blessing you with treasures like this for being a good Mom and taking your kids on a fun vacation. I take mine to Walmart and McDonalds occasionally, which explains why I have NEVER found anything that wonderful at a yard sale. You deserve it. I hope you have a magical trip.
Love both sets!!!!
It’s amazing what you can scoop up with good timing, isn’t it? Enjoy those dishes. You will smile a smile of joy every time you use them knowing you got them at such a bargain and knowing they were somebody’s grandma’s. Sweet.

Just stopping by to tell you I love your blog! I am passing on to you the Versatile Blogger Award. For details go to my blog @ http://perfectimperfectionsbyjeanne.blogspot.com/2012/07/versatile-blogger-award-and-thanks.html. Congratulations!
My mom sold her china in a yard sale when I was a pre-teen. I so wish I had had the forethought to ask her to save it for me! It was similar to the second set you have, with the white on white and silver trim…but this one had daisies on it, which is SO me! I have one teacup to remind me of it.
That is a fabulous find and both sets are just beautiful!
You lucky girl! I think you should throw a party!
Such pretty patterns and what a steal! I’m sure you are going to have fun using and displaying them.
Oh how fun!!!! My yard sale finds this weekend were not nearly as much fun. I recently brought home my Grandmother’s china. We didn’t take things out of the house when she passed since Granddad was still there. Granddad passed the first of the month. The china was to go to my Mom, but she won’t use it, so it came home with us. I can’t wait to use it. My Mom called the other night wanting to know if I wanted their silver too. I can’t wait to set the table and reminisce!!! There was one odd piece we packed up and it resembles your white on white pattern. Enjoy!!!!
What beautiful patterns. Those sets are both gorgeous, and can be used in so many different ways–useful and decorative all in one! Have a wonderful week!
Oh I so agree, I would have bought them both too. The patterns are absolutely stunning. What a great find. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
Nice find! I like both patterns. Good for you!
Both sets of the china are beautiful!! You got a wonderful deal. What are the manufacturers and pattern names of the china? The second set looks like it could be Lenox. What a fun time you will have using them!
What a great find. Can you believe that someone would sell their Grandmothers china ugggh. Lucky for you though hey? The set with the leaf pattern looks like Noratake, I love it. x
Love it!!
I just finished buying eclectic china collection for service of 100+ for my wedding!!! I can’t wait to unwrap it and go through all of it piece by piece!!
Congrats on your great find! I have a beautiful set of china that I collected at various yard sales and thrift stores. I am not sure what they are worth but I know it is alot more than what I paid! Have fun in NY.
Awesome finds!!! Thanks for linking up at Feathered Nest Friday!
its beautiful china!
WOW!! I’m trying so hard not to be jealous of you right now…but I totally am…LOL!! These are GORGEOUS sets!! What an incredible find!! Here’s to many years and many meals with friends and family shared off of these beautiful dishes!
Hi, You really scored big on those dishes, they are beautiful…Connie
These are lovely, what a great find!
Congratulations on all that beautiful china, what great finds! Of course, after you get back from NY, you’ll need to go to more yard sales to look for accessories or silver to go with the dishes. Wish I could ride along with you!
Oh My! They are gorgeous! I would have bought both of them as well. Thank you for sharing this at my Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Hope to see your prettiness again on Monday. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
