Annie Sloan Emile Chair

I often wonder why different people like different colors?

And, why one person will LOVE a particular food and another person will

not be able to stand it.

Like why some people think sushi is the best food on the planet?

And, another is offered a sample of a California Roll by a super kind,

Asian man down at Publix,

and this particular person decides that she will give it a try,

and as soon as she places it in her mouth,

she realizes it was a VERY bad idea,

and tries to smile…

but instead, breaks out in a sweat…

looks at her 3 girls who are awaiting the ok that they too should try some…

only to have to follow their mother {running} to the closest trash can…

to break EVERY rule of etiquette and kindness

and to spit the California Roll out in the garbage can.

And, can now never shop at Publix again for fear that I will see that

nice Asian man again.

And, in the same way that I am not a lover of sushi…

I also have never been drawn to purple.

But, after painting this chair,

and covering the seat in burlap,

And, after seeing this purple chair paired with

this Paris Gray and Old White dresser,

And, after seeing how cute those purple polka dots look on that

Old White bowl,

I am finding that I really like some shades of purple.

Like, Annie Sloan’s Emile.

So, maybe there is a sushi out there I would like?

Maybe I should try it again?

But, this time,

I think I will wait and try it when no one else is around :)…

Life to the full!

  1. This is so funny, you poor thing! OK so I do live in the country and I do have a wrap around porch, the previous owner left behind 2 sets of white wicker furniture, can I spray paint it? I’m thinking black….? Thoughts? Can you pop over to help me? Please?

  2. The purple chair is pretty and will look nice in the right surroundings. I feel the same way about sushi. I tried it and definitely did not enjoy it. Our son really likes it. Yes, we did raise our son to try new things. It worked.

  3. Looks beautiful! I’m not a sushi fan either. :)

  4. Love the chair and I don’t care for sushi either.

  5. So pretty!!!! I love the feminine color!

  6. Oh my! Funny NOW, but what a spot to be stuck in! Love the chair and the dresser! Oh yes, do try sushi again, but try it with something COOKED. (crab, shrimp for a start) I love sushi, but ONLY with cooked stuff in them! :) Careful if you add wasabi, VERY spicy! A little goes a long way… at least for me.

  7. Is there a tutorial for the painting of the chair?
    Thanks,
    Kathy

  8. Skip the sushi and keep the paint. :) It looks really pretty with the green hydrangeas. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s ok not to like certain foods. Fish…no thanks.

  9. I love this color! So much to paint, so little time!!

  12. I just finished some chairs too. Love your color but it would be a hard sell in my booth. People here seem to want neutral colors.

  13. It looks so pretty Melissa! I never use purple in my decor these days but it used to be one of my absolute favourites…this shad reminds me of pale spring lilac blooms!

  14. It looks great! I never use purple, but I love Emile. It’s a softer shade of purple.

  15. Wow…this looks amazing! Loving the purple paint and the polka dot bowl. I’m not a fan of sushi…yuck. Thanks for sharing!

  16. Reading your sushi encounter was entertaining but I can only imagine how hard it was at the time to dispose of the sushi without hurting the gentleman’s feelings. I’m not a fan of purple either, or orange for that matter, but I agree that is a lovely shade. Great pieces.

  17. never saw Emile in person before and i must admit that although i’m not a big fan of purple it does look amazing. and your chair is gorgeous.

  19. Ohhh I have been loving purple lately. Just gorgeous Melissa! Hey, when you get a second could you email me? micmanno@aol.com. Thanks:)

  20. I love your post also most as much as I love the chair!! Nice job with the chair. I’m right there with you on the sushi!

  21. Is that color straight Emily or is it mixed with something else?
